What to buy in Egypt

When it’s time to return home, many people ask themselves only one main question – what to buy as a souvenir for themselves, siblings and friends. To save you time thinking, we want to help you decide what you want to buy.

Magnets

A non-interchangeable souvenir for everyone, there are many types of them, so you can choose the one you like best and it will simply be on your fridge or any surface you want.

Figurines

There are so many options for figurines in Egyptian tourist shops, from a small scarab to a giant figurine or any other figure carved from stone or wood.

Perfumery oils or fragrances

A perfect gift for you or a loved one, there are plenty of scents of perfumed oils in literally every store, so if you are looking for a souvenir for someone with good taste, this option may be perfect.

Oil paintings

Many tourists love to import oils from Egypt, especially black cumin seed oil, because it has many benefits. There are also around 100 different oils available, for literally everything from treating achy knees to oils for shiny hair.

Papyrus

You can buy any papyrus you want, as there are many different types, different quality, material, and thanks to the absolutely amazing photos captured on them, you can also make the one you want in a papyrus factory.

Tea

There isn’t really much to choose from here, but you can still find some really good loose leaf teas and instant drinks. Loose leaf teas can be purchased in any weight or in a set containing 5-10 different flavors. Instant drinks are commonly available in two flavors – date and pomegranate, but you can find many more flavors in other stores.

Clothes or accessories

Many stores offer Egyptian-themed clothes and accessories for every taste and wish, the selection of materials and fabrics is quite large to choose the most suitable and comfortable for you, for everyday use or simply to keep in good condition.

Fruit

In fact, many tourists bring home fruits from Egypt – mainly mangoes and strawberries when the season is right because they are juicy and have an amazing taste. However, transporting them is often quite complicated because the fruit can get crushed, which means that it will not look as good as it does, especially after a long journey. However, if you want to take the risk and bring fruit, look for slightly unripe fruit so that it does not start to rot during the trip, and it is also better to pack a suitcase so that the fruit is not under the pressure of something heavy.

Where to buy

Most tourists prefer to shop in tourist shops or bazaars, and there are entire tourist shopping centers dedicated exclusively to souvenirs. Finding tourist shops is easy because they are almost everywhere in tourist towns and are usually located near hotels. Some visitors prefer to shop in urban shopping centers, sometimes prices there are lower than in hotel stores.
