Description
If you dream of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat, Sataya is definitely what you are looking for. We have yet to miss dolphins on this reef, and there are always large pods of these wonderful mammals.
We leave the port around 9:00. The journey to Sataya takes approximately 2.5 hours. Then we transfer to a speedboat that takes us to the dolphins. Snorkeling with dolphins lasts about 30 – 40 minutes. We usually return to the motorboat several times during this time and motorboat to other nearby locations.
After swimming with the dolphins, we return to the ship, where lunch is served, included in the price of the trip. After lunch, another snorkeling break, this time on coral reefs. Snorkeling lasts about 30-40 minutes. After the second snorkeling we return to the port.
We depart for the cruise to Sataya from the port of Hamata, which is located approximately 250 km south of El Quseir, 170 km south of Port Ghalib and approximately 110 km south of Marsa Alam. Therefore, from hotels located closer to the airport, you should expect a relatively long journey to the port. During the transfer we have one stop in Marsa Alam at a shop to buy something to drink or snack and use the toilet. The stop takes about 10 minutes. Always take a photocopy of your passports with you on sea trips from Marsa Alam.
If we stay in a hotel north of the city of Marsa Alam, it is worth preparing for a longer journey and stocking up on breakfast boxes and water. It’s also a good idea to take something from dinner (bananas, sweet rolls, whatever you like). For the transfer, you can take a travel pillow on the bus or something to cover yourself with, because if you fall asleep under the air conditioning, you may get cold.
In the port of Hamata, there are many poor Egyptian children who approach tourists getting off the buses, asking for food and drinks. If you want to help them, it’s worth preparing for it.
